My Work Space Shop
No secrets on how I run my business. No secrets on what I use.
I've listed the components to my work space and what I use to create my designs. The rest is creativity.
I found these books very helpful. The Victorian Flower Dictionary is fascinating, in fact gripped me because I can really be selective and apply meaning to arranging flowers.
Any beginner type floristry book helps and I went with this one. On down times checking the techniques from the floristry book and following YouTube videos helps keep my skills up to date and relevant.
Start up books on Business
This was recommended to me by a friend with a bicycle shop in Dubai. It's a real lesson on how to develop your start up business. "Make what your customers want... not what you think they want".
The Work Space
No expensive equipment, just basic everyday bits of technology. A laptop, smartphones and a good daylight lamp.
Using Google to link everything has made life very easy for me. The Chromebook is at the heart of it all using both my Android & Apple phones to take and edit pictures.
The Chromebook is small, light & easy to work with.
You need very good lighting. If you have no natural daylight, you will definitely need a daylight lamp. Shadows are unforgiving, so is a late night finish when all you really want to do is take that pic and upload it to Instagram. This lamp is a floor lamp with has a twisty head. Makes the difference.
Lighting, camera, action
...and the rest
I have a room that I dedicate my work to, but then I stretch out to other parts. No matter what, I find I need a dedicated work space. A fold up table that folds once more so it tucks away out of sight really works for me. This one is perfect.
I've put the chair in because whilst the table is low, it can be hard going. The high swivel chair works well as I end up having tools and bits scattered around. Trust me, you need it.
